This Privacy Policy describes how MeshGrid (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the MeshGrid mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

1. Overview

MeshGrid is designed for off-grid-style mesh communication and mapping. We aim to collect only what is needed to operate the Service, improve reliability, and meet legal obligations.

2. Information you provide

• Account and profile fields you enter in the app (for example, callsign, display preferences, or contact details you choose to save).
• Support communications if you contact us.

3. Information collected automatically

• Device and app diagnostics such as crash logs and basic usage telemetry, where enabled, to improve stability and performance.
• Usage and product interaction (for example, how you interact with maps and features) may be processed by integrated SDKs to operate and improve the app.
• Location data, including precise location (for example latitude and longitude) when you grant permission and use features that require it, such as showing your position on the map or requesting weather layers tied to a place.
• Device-related identifiers may be processed by third-party libraries (for example mapping SDKs) for app functionality, analytics, and diagnostics, as described in those providers’ policies.
• Bluetooth and network activity as required to discover, connect to, and exchange data with compatible mesh nodes and accessories.

4. Third-party services (maps and weather)

The app relies on third-party services that have their own privacy notices. Depending on the features you use, these providers may receive data from the app (for example network addresses, precise coordinates in API requests, and identifiers needed to deliver tiles or forecasts), including:

• Mapbox for interactive maps and related map content;
• Open-Meteo for optional forecast data (for example wind or pressure) when those layers are enabled;
• RainViewer for optional precipitation radar imagery when that layer is enabled.

Advertising and “tracking.” MeshGrid does not show third-party advertisements in the app. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your information for cross-app targeted advertising or share it with data brokers for advertising purposes, consistent with common app store privacy definitions.

5. Mesh and peer-to-peer data

When you use mesh or device-to-device features, content you send (such as messages, location updates, or shared map data) may be relayed through other participants or devices according to the mesh protocol. Such transmissions are not under our direct control in the same way as server-hosted messaging; treat mesh traffic as visible to participants in your network according to your operational security practices.

6. How we use information

We use information to:

• Provide, maintain, and secure the Service;
• Diagnose crashes and improve performance;
• Comply with law and respond to lawful requests;
• Communicate with you about the Service when appropriate.

7. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Service providers who assist us (for example, hosting, analytics, or crash reporting), subject to contractual safeguards;
• Authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

8. Retention

We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Your choices

• You may adjust permissions (notifications, Bluetooth, location, local network) in your device’s Settings for MeshGrid.
• You may request access, correction, or deletion of certain personal information where applicable law provides these rights.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. International users

If you use the Service from outside your home country, information may be processed in countries with different data protection laws.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
