Field operations

Stay on one map with your team, even without internet or cellular

Made for small field teams when mobile service or the internet is weak or gone: search and rescue, emergency response, industrial sites, mining, construction, agriculture, rural monitoring, logistics, and maritime work. MeshGrid Node units link wirelessly. Pair your iPhone over Bluetooth to manage positions, messages, and a shared map on one screen.

Why does coordination fall apart in the field?

Radio chatter, maps, and situation reports usually sit in different places. MeshGrid pulls the map, live positions, and team messaging into a single app.

  • Handheld radios are half-duplex, only one person transmits at a time, turn-taking gets messy, and important calls get lost in the noise.
  • Cellular networks and internet links can fail, bog down under load, or simply feel unreliable.
  • Without a shared map, “who is where” lives in radio traffic and people’s heads instead of on one picture.

What MeshGrid offers

Phones can’t build a long-range mesh network on their own, MeshGrid Node devices do that job in the field. They talk to each other directly. You pair your phone over Bluetooth to a nearby unit and run everything from the app. No cell tower or public internet required.

  • Map and chat live in one place, you’re not hopping between apps all day.
  • Built for patchy connectivity or none at all.
  • A fit for search and rescue, emergency response, industry, agriculture, logistics, and other field operations.
Screens from the MeshGrid app: maps, hazard alerts, connectivity settings, and team status.

Features

Offline maps, live team tracking, mesh chat, weather and hazard layers, SAR tools, and encrypted links, one flow on one screen.

Shared map (offline ready)

Everyone sees the same picture: teammate positions, messages, and task areas. Download map regions before you leave coverage.

Device-to-device link

MeshGrid Node units talk directly over RF (LoRa). No base station or internet required.

Live team tracking

See peer positions in real time with custom callsigns, team colors, and NATO alphabet names across the mesh.

MGRS, UTM, and grids

Professional navigation layers, MGRS, UTM, and graticule, for reports and field reference.

Encrypted, local-first

BLE and mesh traffic stay encrypted. No account required; credentials stay protected on your device.

Mission drawing tools

Draw squares, circles, lines, and SAR-style hatched search areas. Supported shapes sync over the mesh; hatch patterns stay local.

Weather and map layers

Precipitation radar, wind, pressure, fog, air quality, active fires, earthquakes, hiking trails, and ocean currents, with offline HUD cache.

Mesh messaging

Channel and direct chat over MeshGrid Nodes with delivery receipts, unread indicators, and priority tags for fire, SAR, medical, and logistics.

Operational markers

Drop markers and notes for hazards, rendezvous points, and task status so the whole team shares one overlay.

Hazard alerts

Nearby earthquakes, wildfires, and floods reach the map and a dedicated alert list, with distinct icons, distance filters, and unread badges.

Maritime SAR drift

SARDRIFT builds a current-based search probability cloud for people or areas lost at sea, with animated ocean-current layers and offline cache.

Offline first aid

Step-by-step emergency guides and an on-device first-aid assistant, available offline in over 20 languages.

Signal Test

Probe RF link quality with live stats, map marks, terrain tracks, and exportable CSV logs for field troubleshooting.

22+ languages

Full localization including Turkish, Arabic with RTL layout, Ukrainian, Japanese, and more, so the whole team works in their language.

How setup works

  1. Place your field units

MeshGrid requires a separate physical device called MeshGrid Node. Place MeshGrid Node devices with your team in the field; they communicate with each other over LoRa to form a local mesh network.

  2. Pair your phone

Open the MeshGrid app on your iPhone and connect it via Bluetooth to a nearby MeshGrid Node device. The app uses this physical device to reach the mesh network.

  3. Work off the grid

Your iPhone sends locations and messages via Bluetooth to the connected MeshGrid Node, which relays them over LoRa to other MeshGrid Node devices. No cellular service or internet is required; the app alone cannot provide this connection.

Industries we serve

MeshGrid Node is not just for search and rescue. It gives small teams beyond reliable coverage a shared map and messaging.

Field operator across industries with MeshGrid Node on vest and smartphone; emergency response and coordination.

Search and rescue and emergency management

Ideal for dispersed teams and command posts. Track two search sectors or post-disaster assessment units on one map. When roads, power, or towers fail, a self-built mesh and up-to-date positions are critical.

Industrial facilities, mining, and construction sites

Large plants, open-pit mines, and job sites often lack GSM. Safety, supervisors, and maintenance share position and messages on one map instead of radio queues and scattered apps.

Agriculture and rural area monitoring

Fields, pasture, and wide land have limited coverage. Spread-out tractor, patrol, or veterinary teams see each other on the map and coordinate without a network.

Logistics and maritime

Warehouse yards, port operations, and coastal or river transits lose connectivity easily. Loading crews, field logistics, or small fleets share container zones and meeting points on the map.

Also used for drills, border security, and temporary missions on the same Node network.

ATAK-CIV on Android

Join the same MeshGrid mesh from ATAK on Android. Download the ATAK plugin APK from GitHub.

  • Prebuilt plugin for ATAK-CIV 5.5.1.x, download from GitHub Releases.
  • Shared map positions and GeoChat on the mesh, no cellular or internet required.
  • Same mesh password and provisioning as MeshGrid Node, works alongside iPhone Core nodes.
  • Plugin installation steps and SHA-256 checksums are in the distribution README.

What the design rests on

We don’t quote inflated range or speed numbers. The product is built around these ideas:

  • Trust the devices, not the infrastructure Field units talk to each other directly, you’re not tied to carriers, towers, or public internet.
  • Built for rough conditions Meant for moments when the link keeps dropping, not for always-on home Wi-Fi.
  • Standard reporting Works with familiar grid systems like MGRS/UTM for professional reporting.
  • Encrypted, verifiable data Traffic between units and phones is encrypted; verify packets when you turn that on.
